Lau Batty

“I am so excited to join Tangle as an Associate Artist. From my first introduction to the company, I have admired the vision, talent, drive and overwhelmingly the warmth of everyone at Tangle. I hope to give as much as everyone has given me.

Being an associate with Tangle means being a part of a group of artists whom I greatly admire for their creativity, vision and compassion. I am always astounded by the kindness with which all Tangle members treat every person to engage with their company, but also the exciting and daring programmes spearheaded by Anna's vision.”

Lau is proud of her British and Polynesian heritage: Lau’s father is British, and her mother is predominantly Tuvaluan with some Kiribati and Danish heritage, and she was raised across the South Pacific and Southern Africa.

As a child, Lau lived on Tristan Da Cunha, one of the world’s remotest islands, and she was raised across the South Pacific and Southern Africa. She is passionate about Caribbean poetry and wrote her dissertation on Derek Walcott and Kamau Braithwaite.
